Sound Switcher Indicator is getting more and more intricate and advanced thanks to the never-ending stream of ideas from the users. The majority of changes in the version 2.1.1 pertain to the configuration file ($HOME/.config/indicator-sound-switcher.json).
I’ve been able to pay a bit more attention to the Sound Switcher Indicator and implement some of the long asked-for features.
It’s been more than two years since the last release of the Sound Switcher Indicator (1.2.2). During this period I’ve been bombarded with requests to allow the indicator to switch device profiles, because most sound cards cannot be otherwise switched to their digital ports, like S/PDIF and HDMI.
So today I proudly present Sound Switcher Indicator 2.0.1, which finally supports profile switching:
I managed to upgrade the best-selling Koss PortaPro headphones using a couple of items I’ve bought on eBay. The headphones are some ten years old now, yet sturdy and rocking, and now have become even better:
After the previous release of Sound Switcher Indicator an article about it was posted on Web Upd8. I immediately started getting numerous bug reports, feature requests, questions and comments.
So I found out, for instance, that the indicator is also popular with old Ubuntu versions (up to 12.04).
I’ve finally got to update my Sound Switcher Indicator. Version 1.2.0 adds support for selecting not only the input/output device, but also a specific port:
The application indicator for Ubuntu called Sound Switcher Indicator (which I blogged about) has been updated to version 1.1.1. There’s no new functionality in this release, its main purpose is to make the indicator work in Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander). It was broken because of a bug in libdbusmenu.
Recently I’ve discovered a peculiar feature of my M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 speakers.
It’s been two years of suffering from the speakers built into my iMac. The speakers, despite all Apple’s marketing noise and even two 17 Watt power amps, suck big time. I’ve already connected my AV receiver via Bluetooth, but it’s quite a hassle to start it up every time. Another issue is that Logitech Bluetooth adapter gives a very low output level, which requires setting receiver’s volume to -20 dB every time I power it up.
I couldn’t take it anymore so I created an audio input/output switcher indicator for Ubuntu.
