Invisible wireless charger

When it comes to interior design, I’m a big fan of minimalism — which one can notice from the photo of my workplace (and that’s how it looks in real life and not only on the photo).

Long time I wished to build a wireless Qi phone charger right into my desk so that I could charge my mobile by simply laying it down onto the desktop.

There was an issue though. My desktop is a sheet of 10 mm-thick hardened glass, and common wireless chargers only support charging over a distance up to 8 mm.

Recently I have been able to find a solution to this and make it exactly the way I wanted.

Xenia, our robot vacuum

Robot vacuum cleaners are a great help in housekeeping but all have one downside: they cannot walk the stairs.

Our Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 1S, which features a pleasant female voice and is therefore called Xenia, perfectly manages cleaning of one specific floor in our house.

I’ve been using the electric corkscrew Xiaomi Mijia for more than a year now and I’m pretty happy with it.

It features a rechargeable battery, which means there’s one more gadget to charge. However, I dare say you won’t need to charge it frequently unless you drink wine a crate a day.

What you need to know when ordering stuff abroad

If you like ordering cheap gadgets and other stuff from AliExpress (and similar online stores) like I do, you may find this useful.

For all shipments originating from within the EU no extra charges are to be paid in the Netherlands.

For all other countries, the Dutch customs regulation establishes a duty-free threshold of € 22 per package.
