Five days ago the mighty Arjen Lucassen has announced on his Facebook page two live shows of his Ayreon mega-project, which got the name Ayreon Universe. The shows were scheduled for 15 and 16 September 2017, with the official ticket sale starting on 24 November at 10:00 CET.

Shadowrise and Myrath at Patronaat Nov 15, 2016

Last Saturday was marked by a show by the prog metal band Myrath from Tunisia (Northern Africa). The venue was the club Patronaat in Haarlem, Netherlands. Myrath is unique not only because of its origin, but also thanks to a magnificent combination of heavy sound and Arabic motives and instruments in their music. Furthermore, they have a belly dancer!

Now official: Shodan Jul 18, 2016

And here we are, almost four months after the exam I officially possess a Shodan Aikido Aikikai: Shodan certificate.

The diploma has been solemnly granted by Marc Jongsten (who also took the exam) during a short ceremony at Aikido Centrum Leiden.

Amersfoort Marathon 2016 Jun 5, 2016

I'm just back from Amersfoort where I've quite successfully finished a half marathon, 21.1 km.

Medal of the marathon.

The day's been a scorcher with 27 °C (81 °F) in the shade. On the Dutch scale it's a lot, and with a clear blue sky you feel like being roasted.

King's Day 2016 May 1, 2016

The last Queen's Day to date happened three years ago, when Princess Beatrix, then still the Queen of the Netherlands, announced her upcoming abdication for her son Willem-Alexander. The latter celebrates his birthday on April 27th, which is very conveniently near the former date of April 30th.
